da bears
are going down. although they are leading 16-7 at halftime, they were given opportunities galore and failed to capitalize. two drives were stopped in the red zone, one because of a horrible rex grossman over throw, and another which fizzled at the two.
the bears have recovered 2 fumbles, both of which only led to field goals. I mean, despite their poor offensive play, the saints are really sticking in there. pretty impressive considering that the bears are the league’s second highest scoring offense.
so far, the bright spot for the bears has been their defense, which, except for a late 2nd quarter TD, was nearly perfect. they managed to keep brees off his game, while stopping the bush/mcalister combo.
on the other side, the bear’s offense has been horrible, with the exception of thomas jones, who has about 80 yards on 11 carries. it seems that the bears always have someone who steps up when the other guys are struggling.
anyway, call the saints victory now - even tho they’re down. i think the bears let them stay in the game waaaay too long, plus, brees is looking better, and once he gets a few more points on the board grossman will be forced to throw…then the bears will really be in trouble.
