Try and figure it out.  Yes, you can cheat by looking at the legal stuff, but really, it’s such a weird form of guerilla marketing.

I mean, the ‘wasteland’ game thingy is bizarre.  No real link to the product either, with the exception of a few cameos.

• I love the months before the NFL season starts!  All these transactions, free agents, the draft.  Teams can really be made in summer (assuming keepers at least).
• Some of the bigger announcements include:
• Jamal lewis dropped.  Who will take over in Baltimore?  Who picks up lewis?  Does he have a year or two left in the tank?
• Bledsoe cut - not surprising, but who needs a decent veteran QB?  Miami maybe?
• Taylor resigned.  Seems like the Jags are going to go to a 2 back set permanently.  What’s gonna happen to greg jones?
• Tatum bell sent to lions - kevin jones had a decent year, but look like the lions may be trying out a 2 back set.  And mike bell a keeper?  still have no idea where this guy came from.
• Trent Green is available, Huard is signed.  Is KC really gonna stick with Huard?
• Rumors of Randy Moss going to Green Bay.  That would be a great curtain call for Farve.
• Willis McGahee in play?  There’s talk of him taking over for Tiki in NY.
• Thank god the raiders got rid of Brooks.  Should have invested in a QB last year.
• Jets released Barlow and Blaylock - seems like they’ll be sticking with bird-man Leon Washington.
• I’m sick and haven’t had a cig since Saturday.  I don’t know what’s worse, the cold or lack of nicotine.
• I just started ‘The Audacity of Hope’ by Barack Obama.  I don’t usually read, and I never buy hardcovers from brick and mortar stores, but I started reading it in Target and had to get it.  He’s a great writer - strong voice, very balanced and heart felt.  I’ll update as I go along.
• The OQO model 02 is sick.  The first OQO model took a lot of flack, but seems like the company made a lot of progress here.  Initial reviews are positive, but I haven’t got my hands on one to try it out yet.  Starting at $1,500, they’re not cheap, but not unreasonable either.
• I watched Deal or No Deal for the first time last night.  Interesting show, but TiVo is a MUST HAVE.  Otherwise you’re stuck watching these idiots tell their life story and jump around and stuff.  The funny thing is when you look at the website, it seems more about the models than the show itself.
• Ok, i’m playing the deal or no deal flash game now.  sigh, yes, i know…Ok, 6 unopened cases, the offer is $95K - 1m and 400k cases are left, I say, no deal!
• Doh, just killed the 400k case, but the offer went up to $112k.  No deal!
• Ok, got rid of the 10k, the offer is now $178k, with 4 cases remaining.  No deal!  Really, I’m just waiting on the $1m, cuz the rest of the cases are 750 to $25k.
• Whew, got rid of the $750k case, my offer is $320K…errr, no deal!
• btw, I picked my lucky number 19 case, I think that’s where the $1 mil is.
• Wow, got rid of the $5k case, now is a 1 in 2 chance for the $1m.  I’m offered $367K.  sigh.  No deal.  2 cases left…
• Yay!  My case contained the $1m, that was easy!
• Just playing my second game now, and I’m left with either 200 or 300.  That is disappointing.

A Wahoo’s Fish Taco recently opened in Palo Alto.  I got a free taco coupon in the mail, so, hell, I gave it a shot. 

There are, I discovered, many Wahoo’s throughout Northern and Southern California, as well as Texas, Colorado and Hawaii.  The chain was founded in 1988 by three brothers, with the original store located in Costa Mesa.

Wahoo’s has a unquiet combination of mexican, hawaiian, surfer and skater flair.  The store I visited has the appearance of a grass shack plastered with stickers from surf and skate companies.  Even the plastic numbers people use when waiting for food, were inscribed with the ‘Element’ logo.

Wahoo’s offers a comprehensive menu that includes traditional mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos and enchiladas, along with rice bows, salads, and soups.  Mexican dishes seem mostly traditional, prepared with rice, a mixture of beans, salsa and greens, while the rice bowls have more of a Asian/Hawaiian angle.

I got three tacos, fish, chicken and beef.  Each were decent, but not remarkable.  I mean, there is not much you can do with a soft taco. 

Since I got the tacos to go, they were a little smushed and soggy from the packaging.  The fish was nicely spiced, juicy and tender, while the beef was a bit tougher, similar to say, beef chunks in beef stew.  The chicken was also surprisingly well prepared, with enough flavor to mask the otherwise mundane nugget-sized pieces.

All in all, the place was better than average, but does require a few more visits before I can develop a strong opinion.  Although I liked the tacos, my free coupon went a long way - otherwise my bill would have been in the $7 range, a bit high in my opinion. 

Also, there are a bunch of items I need to try from Wahoo’s, such as the Kalua Pig Bowl, Maui Bowl, and of course, the signature Wahoo’s bowl.  Most bowls are prepared with ‘teriyaki’ sauce, so it’ll be interesting to see if these are successfully implemented, or a mirror of the yoshinoya teriyaki flooded bowls.

The restaurant itself is medium service - you find a table but they bring the food to you.  They also serve beer and wine, which is a big plus.

Ok, so obviously I’ve just been looking at vids on liveleak today.  Here’s a decent one from mexican TV.  Just your basic prank so, but this one focuses on pranking hot girls, apparently.

Plus, the second prank is pretty morbid.  They go to great lengths to isolate these girls and really make them pretty frantic.  Anyway, it’s a good 5 mins of hot girls and humor.

Exactly what it sounds like, strangely.  This reporter, posing as a fan, handcuffed herself to Hugh Grant at the Music + Lyrics premier.

To his credit, Grant was a great sport.  He seemed to get a little irked, asking “do you have a key?”, “Oh, i see, alright.”  Then later saying, “I’m getting pissed off,” but overall he was the consummate professional.  It actually seems like he led the girl around with him for some time before eventually getting the cuffs cut off.

At least it was a girl cuffing herself to Grant, a well composed male, as opposed to say, an old guy handcuffing himself to dakota fanning.

In any case, today’s Woot is Microsoft Streets and Trips with GPS Locator (that link changes after today) for only $45.  These are usually in the $80 range, although recently the price has dropped a bit lower.  But no matter what, $45 is a steal.

I used this app when driving cross country with hippie bitch exgirlfriend.  It worked very well - not only does it do your routing and provide turn by turn directions, it also points out restaurants, hotels, etc.  I also believe it is easier to use a laptop GPS when driving, because the screen is larger.  The only problem is you actually have to get it set up before you get on the road, because it’s a bit difficult to control when driving.

Keep in mind that this is the 2006 edition, not 2007.  This may be a problem for some, but the software has updating capabilities, so you will not, say, be stuck looking for a road that is not there.

So, check it out!  Not getting any commish from this one, it’s just genuinely a good deal!

The San Francisco Chronicle had an excellent article about the use of aquaculture to revive the stock of Abalone for cooking.   Here’s some background on Abalone if you are not already familiar with this mollusk.

Abalone is traditionally used a lot in Chinese and a little in Japanese cuisine.  I personally think it tastes similar to geoduck, its all texture with little flavor.  In my opinion Abalone is all hype and no substance, I’d rather save my money and buy high-end Toro.

James Cameron — of fanastical movies such as Terminator and Aliens — is producing a documentary claiming to have found the burial cave of Jesus and his wife, Mary Magdalene. Additionally, Jesus and Mary Magdalene had a son, and the DNA found in the boxes could possibly undermine the concept of the Virgin Mary’s immaculate conception. Doesn’t this vaguely sound familiar?

1 vs 100 is the new game show by NBC.  The show is your typical trivia game where a contestant is asked a question then chooses from multiple choices.   Like all game shows, this show is beginning to show its age.   I’ve noticed that when game shows get a little long in the tooth, they beginning to bring on more outlandish contestants.   Well, I noticed today that 1 vs 100 had on three six mafia….come on!  Three six mafia? Yes and they were playing against a flamboyant guy.  Say bye bye
