WTHR Eyewitness News in Indianapolis is reporting that two sixth grade students had sex in class with a teacher present.

According the report, the act took place at Warren Township’s Raymond Park Middle School, in shop class, no less.

Apparently, the two students had sex in front of ten witnesses.  Initially, the teacher was not aware of the situation because of a kid acting as a ‘look out.’  But once the teacher did figure out what was going on, ‘immediate action’ was taken.

Shop class isn’t the wisest place to have sex tho, no?  Imagine all those tools, ugh, and sawdust.  Talk about the last place you want to get a splinter.  Really, what were these kids thinking?  And sixth grade?  Props deserve to be dolled out here, but I don’t really think that’s appropriate.

What do Japanese and southerners have in common?  Well, both cultures are known for slavery (and for the japanese, it was sex slavery).  But also, Okra is a pretty popular cuisine both in the south and in Japan.

So, I was very pleased to find ‘Talk o’ Texas’ Crisp Okra Pickles at Longs.

These things are very good.  Like the label says, they’re crisp - a commendable feat since Okra can easily get soggy and slimy.  I got the Hot version, although mild is available as well.

These things are simple - whole Okra pieces, marinated in a hot vinegar and salt mixture.  And that is that.  I can eat these things for days and not get tired of them.

There are a few…scatological side effects however.  For one, aside from the Okra, these things are vinegar and salt.  And I don’t know if you’ve ever eaten high concentrations of vinegar and salt before, but it kind of f’s up your stomach. 

So take it slow.  You can eat a lot, but the more you eat, the more crispy hot okra diarrhea you will have.  No joke.  I would give a rough estimate that each pickle over 2 will give you 5 minutes of hard fighting in the john.  Additionally, your body doesn’t really digest the okra seeds, so your poop has these little white okra seeds in them.

Another thing is these things aren’t exactly healthy for you.  Two pieces has 15% of your sodium intake for the day, so although you can’t eat just one, you probably should.

Anyway, if you like kind of sour and salty things, give these a try.  They’re not an everyday food, but they’re good for just kicking back and relaxing.

Cedric Benson has been a huge pain in my ass over the past two fantasy seasons.  I seem to always get stuck with him, and ultimately, he ends up doing nothing.

Let’s recap.

Benson was a over-hyped rookie from Texas in 2005.  He was drafted number 4 by the Bears, who already had veteran Thomas Jones on the roster. 

What does Benson do?  He holds out.  For 36 days.  So, instead of the rookie taking over for the aging veteran, you have Benson trying to catch up in training camp, while Jones maintains his hold on the starting position.  Benson did play a few games, but got injured here and there, and never really found a rhythm.

Last year was when Benson was supposed to really shine.  Lovie Smith named him the starter early in the preseason, but untimely injuries passed the starting position back to Jones.  Benson was actually injured by his own team mates, who probably hate the guy for his holdout and arrogance, particularly when compared to Jones.

Did I mention he got injured early in the super bowl, and didn’t return?

But the Bears are reporting today that Jones was traded to the Jets, thereby making Benson their starter.  He will be a true starter too - this will most likely not be a time share situation, unless Benson f’s it up again.

I have the option of making Benson a keeper, I only paid $5 for him - quite a deal for a starting RB.  Looks like it will be year #3 with Benson.  Hopefully this guy has matured a bit, and has learned to check his ego.  My guess though, is that he starts off strong, then gets injured 3 weeks into the season.  This guy is not durable at all - he’s been injured throughout his first two years.

• ESPN.com is a mess.  The mix of video, ads, moving text and slideshows is obnoxious, obtrusive and a text-book example of overzealous web design.  Now, I understand a few, ahem, unobtrusive ads in the sidebars.  But ESPN.com is overwhelmed by its widgets, bringing the site to a crawl and making the fast, efficient dissementation of stats, yes, stats, what sports fans are here for to begin with, impossible.
• More rumors about the Google phone.  Can we just drop the phone part and start calling these things what they really are: tiny computers that happen to have voice capabilities and wireless Internet.  Who knows what this thing will be like, but seems a little bit outside of Google’s core focus, no?
• Or how about this phone from Samsung.  Looks pretty good, huh?  5MP camera, HSDPA at 7.2MB/sec, full touch screen.  That proprietary OS will be a deal breaker though.  Who’s gonna develop apps for this thing?  That’s why I love my Windows Mobile phone, even if it is slow and buggy.

• Is global warming a myth?  Personally I like the global warming debate more than, say, traditional tree hugging or wildlife protection.  If these hippies are going to bitch about something, then, hey, global warming ain’t bad.  There’s a good story and lots of science - it’s interesting.
