Dice-K left the game after the 7th inning, ending up with 1 earned run, 6 hits, 10 strikeouts, and one walk. A very respectable performance for the MLB ‘rookie.’
He apparently impressed with range of pitches - althoughI have not yet seen the replays. In the 4th inning, he struck out the side with only 14 pitches.
So, a good start for the import. Take it with a grain of salt, however, he was playing against the KC royals.

From Gizmodo.
John Dvorak, long time Apple critic, is claiming that according to his sources the iPhone battery will only last for 40 minutes of talk time. Not only that, but the interface ‘fouls up constantly.’
With only 2 more months until the iPhone release, what can we expect from the big A? I call delays, and after the release, I think we’ll start to see lots of bugs emerge. Just a guess, but it’s looking more and more likely.
For all the time and effort that apple put into this thing, a botched release could mean big problems for the company. Anyone got the cajones to short?

In his major league debut, japanese ace Daisuke Masuzaka is looking pretty good.
Through 7 innings, dice-k has given up six hits and one run - with the run coming in a 6th inning homer.
dice-k struck out 10 batters through the 7th, with the red sox clinging to a one run lead.
We’ll see how the game progresses, but so far so good for dice-k.

It seems that Real Estate get rich schemes just don’t end. I never understood how people continue to insist that real estate always increases in price. Although this phenomenon has repeated itself over long-term history, past performance doesn’t predict future results. Since we’re all beginning to see news stories talking about how median home prices in metropolitan areas are falling, people hawking real estate have started to promote a new line of business; buying foreclosures.
The foreclosure purchase business is beginning to pick up steam. “Real estate always goes up, so why not buy some when someone else can’t pay for it?” Yahoo has stepped into this frothy market and began to offer a listing service that allows users to search listings and learn about the offerings. This reminds me of the IPO market in 2000 where non-professional investors started elbowing each other to get involved in that highly speculative market. Its a sure sign of something unseemly when professionals “want” to open up their business to mom-and-pop.
I would step away from the market and watch how this ultimately unfolds. Something tells me that this bottom rung of speculation is the last ditch effort to salvage an imploding market. Just imagine how cheap real estate will be when those new foreclosure investors eventually blow up.

The San Francisco Chronicle today had an article about how Barack Obama’s successful Internet campaign has allowed him to match the $26 million raised by his opponent Hillary Clinton. I think this is extraordinary evidence of the Internet effect on contemporary politics. Bloggers are becoming more of legitimate form of media as evidenced by this quote:
“Leading Silicon Valley insiders noted that Obama raised nearly $7 million on the Internet thanks to an aggressive effort involving bloggers, social networking and other activities that far outpaced the endeavors of other leading Democratic candidates. It includes 4,000 My.BarackObama.com groups, 9,000 Obama bloggers and 50,000 online donors.”
I wonder if Hillary is going to attempt some sort of a viral web presence now that Obama has shown the effectiveness of social networking. With 9,000 bloggers on board, Hillary might be hard pressed to find any undecided bloggers. If Barack is elected this might be our very first web 2.0 president.

Why is it so great?
-
- Kick ass cast: Jake Gylenhaal, Drew Barrymore, Noah Wylie, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze, Mary McDonnell
- Have you heard this the soundtrack? One of the best collections of songs ever assembled on film. It really creates the dark gothic theme.
- Supernatural plot line.
- Great writing with hilarious lines.
- Demonic bunny from the future. Need I say more?
- Great quotes
- The movie was filmed over the span of 28 days(The exact time span of the movie) on a budget of less that $5 million.
Great analysis (albeit a long one) available at Locus Online

In this month’s issue of Wired (the one with jenna fisher nude on the cover), the magazine names Google the #1 wired company.
Waiiit, can we redefine ‘wired’ here, because japadamus is missing something.
What is wired? Spending $1.65 billion on a video sharing site that nets you a $1 billion lawsuit? How about publishing the work of authors online for free (don’t worry, google will still get paid for the ads beside those documents, Eric - they’ll still be making money off other people’s content). Or what about the entry into ‘wired’ mediums like print and video - surely we haven’t seen that before?
The only thing that is wired, it seems, is Wired Magazine’s nose firmly up google’s $150 billion anus. And let’s be fair, that’s a nice anus to stick one’s nose into - but let’s try to be a little less blatant, Wired, mmkay?
Recap - overpaying for competitors when your technology fails - tired. profiting off the work of others without compensating them - tired. buying companies left and right because you haven’t had a hit since, say, 2 years ago - very very tired.

-so, I was watching this Avril Lavine video on Yahoo! - I swear I’ve never said that before. But is it me or is Avril hot now? And who else appreciates that she’s slutting it up a bit (e.g. skirt, fishnets, etc.) instead of just playing the tomboy angle? she even did some dancing routines and stuff - she’s the first girl to turn teenybopper after she stopped being a teen.
-When did hillary duff get so cracked out? She was another olsen turn 18 bust in my opinion. with some of these girls, it’s kittens to cats I swear. her music is shitty too. i’m taking over/unders, how long before she’s stepping out of a limo hammered with no underwear - the way her career’s going, what else is left?
-I like how christina aguilera’s doing this classic, yet sexy thing. works so well for her, and it suits her voice perfectly. plus, she can’t hang in terms of dancing, so now she just has a super elaborate set and costumes, and just bobs back and forth looking hot. all for it.
-everytime i see a justin timberlake video with him acting all hard, I think of that punk’d where he was crying on the steps of his house cuz all of his shit was being repo’ed by the IRS.
-since when did music videos become ads for every single mp3 player and cell phone out there. some of these videos look like they’re about these phones and the performers are just models or something.
-unless the pussycat dolls are dancing around in short skirts, I don’t think they’re very attractive. some of them kind of look like men.

Also from Drudge. Apparently a bunch of students from American University started throwing things at Karl Rove’s car following his speech at the university. After that, the students laid down in front of his car in an effort to prevent Rove from leaving.
Looks like things got pretty rowdy. Two cops taking on this skinny-ass white girl? I’ll give hippies one thing man, at least they have spirit.
Avideo is here also, but it’s pretty hard to see anything. Apparently some kids wanted to make a ‘citizen’s arrest’ on Rove, which would have been interesting to see. I mean, then the cops would have taken out their billy clubs and really started to beat some hippie ass.
