From Fark.  The Last Mimzy is a PG family movie about two siblings to develop special talents after they find a mysterious box of toys.

The Hills Have Eyes 2 is an ‘R’ rated movie, due to “prolonged sequences of strong gruesome horror violence and gore, a rape and language,” according to IMDB.

And never the twain shall meet?

Not so fast.  Theater goers in Holtsville, NY thinking they were seeing the Last Mimzy were instead shown the opening scene of The Hills Have Eyes II.  Unfortunately for the theater, this scene featured a “chained, naked woman giving birth [to] what appears to be a mutant creature.”

About 50 people, including parents and kids, began screaming and ran out.

The Last Mimzy started about half an hour late, and upset patrons were given free vouchers.

Frank Bruni The New York Times restaurant critic wrote a primer on popcorn in the NYT Diner’s Journal Blog. 

 

Frank to Kim: “Serious questions: do you usually use olive oil when making popcorn? And why? And why olive oil sometimes and not other times? And when did that start and what other oils have you tried?”

Kim: “Well, sometimes I feel like I want my popcorn to have just a little more umami — like when you have the urge to put Parmesan on it, or something to make it a little more complex. I get it in my head that I want the popcorn to have something more. Then I do it, and remember that I really want more of the traditional salt and butter flavor. So I go back to canola (or, soon, on your suggestion, peanut oil) until I start to get bored and think I want something with a little more depth and the whole thing starts anew.”

Hmmm Umami popcorn:  add Parmesan, truffle oil, …furukake?
