From AOL.
In the ‘I’m glad a black person finally said it’ category, AOL columnist Jason Whitlock today called for Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to step down from their positions as “president and vide president of Black America.”
Some nice snippets from Whitlock’s column:
“If judged by the results they’ve produced the last 20 years, you’d have to regard their administration as a total failure. Seriously, compared to Martin and Malcolm and the freedoms and progress their leadership produced, Jesse and Al are an embarrassment.”
“Rather than inspire us to seize hard-earned opportunities, Jesse and Al have specialized in blackmailing white folks for profit and attention. They were at it again last week, helping to turn radio shock jock Don Imus’ stupidity into a world-wide crisis that reached its crescendo Tuesday afternoon when Rutgers women’s basketball coach Vivian Stringer led a massive pity party/recruiting rally.”
I’m glad Whitlock is at least speaking out about this whole ridiculous incident. Black leaders are so quick to call out whites as racists who perpetuate stereotypes that keep blacks down, while refusing to assign responsibility where it lies - among blacks themselves.
Whitlock writes:
“Imus’ words did no real damage. Let me tell you what damaged us this week: the sports cover of Tuesday’s USA Today. This country’s newspaper of record published a story about the NFL and crime and ran a picture of 41 NFL players who were arrested in 2006. By my count, 39 of those players were black.”
Thank god someone is saying it. You know a white person would not touch this subject with a 10 foot pole. And black ‘leaders’ are much more willing to take the more popular and less controversial position of blaming whitey.
The ‘blackmailing’ that Whitlock mentions is actually very interesting. What these black leaders tend to do is call out a white business or organization for being racist - whether these places have too few black workers, or some manager used the n-word. Then, they talk to these organizations and threaten lots of negative press and legal action unless the organization enrolls in a racial sensitivity program. And guess who’s there to administer the program and collect hefty fees? These black leaders profit off of white people with racial blackmail. No company wants to be called racist by Sharpton - and they’ll gladly pay to get off his hit list.
It’s ironic that Whitlock will probably be called a sellout and uncle tom for this article, while Sharpton and Jackson have been selling out blacks for years and years.
Only guys like Cosby and now Whitlock at least partially call out blacks to step up themselves.
In any case, you can read Whitlock’s column here.
