After winning three games straight in the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox are off to the World Series. Boston won by a comfortable margin - 11 to 2, but the game was very very close until the 7th inning.
Dice-K got the win in a solid outing, allowing 2 runs in five innings. Hedeki Okajima followed by shutting out the Indians for another two innings - and that was all that Boston needed. That’s 7 innings of all Japa pitching for the BoSox, if you’re keeping count.
On the flip side, you have to kind of feel for Cleveland, especially after last year’s defeat in the NBA Finals. The Indians seemed to have everything taken care of with a comfortable 3-1 series lead, needing only one win to head to the world series. But in the next three games, the Indians lost by a combined score of 5 to 30 - and are now going home.
Picks for the WS? I think Boston is a strong favorite, and I would guess they’ll win in 5. But really, I don’t know shit about baseball - especially the non Japanese players, so who knows?

After his first few starts I started to get a bit lazy on Dice-K updates. He ended the season 15-12, not bad, but definitely not $100 million good. And by the way, that will be a criticism that will never escape Dice-K, because it is so easy. He will really have to work hard to meet expectations.
With that said, Matsuzaka will have a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to prove himself tomorrow night in Boston. See, the Red Sox just capped off a remarkable comeback after trailing the Indians in the ALCS 1 games to 3. Tomorrow night will be game 7, the winner heading to the World Series to play against Colorado, who beat the Diamondbacks in 4 games straight.
Thus far, Dice-K has had a decent playoff, but has not done anything close to stellar. He lost one game to the indians and got a no-decision versus LA…but tomorrow is really all that will matter for him this entire year.

It’s been a while since of last Dice-K update, but the Red Sox pitcher has been on a tear as of late. On Tuesday, Dice-K pitched his first complete game - a 6 hit outing where the only run he allowed was off a solo homer. Additionally, Dice-K struck out 5 and didn’t walk a single batter.
With an ERA of 4.17, Dice-K is having a good, but not stellar year so far. More notably however, he has won four games after losing his second and third games, to bring his record to 5-2.
But Dice-K has had help in his last four wins, with the sox scoring 7, 9, 11 and 7 runs, with the Dice allowing 1, 1, 4 and 6 runs respectively. Additionally, in his 6th outing Dice-K allowed 7 runs in 5 innings, but escaped with a no-decision.
If the Dice keeps this up, he can expect many more bows from David Ortiz and his other team mates.

Dice-K got his second win against the Yankees tonight. He had a mixed performance, allowing 6 earned runs, while striking out 7.
Dice-K struck out A-Rod twice, but also gave up a homer to Jeter, walked one and hit both A-Rod and Jeter.
The news of the night however, was the Red Sox’ batting. In the bottom of the third, the Red Sox hit back, to back, to back, to back homers (that’s right, 4 homers back to back) to tie a MLB record.
It was a one-in-a-lifetime display that finally gave Dice-K the run support he needed. In his two prior losses, the sox supported Dice-K with only 1 run with only 5 runs of support for him during his 3 games this year. But the Sox clearly came to play tonite, capping off the sweep versus the Yankees, giving Dice-K a total of 7 runs of support.
Overall, Dice-K looked decent, but did make some key mistakes. He gave up a 2 run lead, and seemed to lack control at times. Again, it’s hard to see the $100m in Dice-K at this point, but he did play his role to get a key win against the hated yankees.

Japanese import Dice-K posted another loss on Tuesday to the Toronto Blue Jays. Now 1-2, he clearly does not have the record of a $100 million pitcher, but is it really his fault?
Dice-k lasted 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. He walked 3 batters and struck on 10 - not bad numbers at all.
Although Matsuzaka took care of the first 8 batters he faced, he walked in a run in the 4th.
Still, the red sox only gave him one run of support - not much for Dice-K to work with. They only managed a single hit in his last outing.
It will be interesting to see how Dice-K manages the loss. Hopefully he’s able to regroup, after what was a decent, but not stellar nite on the mound.

Dice-K gave up eight hits and three runs in his fenway debut, as the Red Sox were blanked by the Mariners, 3-0.
Dice-K was not spectacular, but he wasn’t bad either. He lasted through 7 innings - the same as his first start in Kansas City - with four Ks and a walk. He didn’t get much support from his offense, as the red sox managed only one hit against Felix Hernandez.
Fenway was clearly hyped to see Dice-K. The crowd cheered loudly for his first few pitches against another japanese import, Ichiro Suzuki. Throughout the game, Dice-K did a good job against Ichiro, holding him hitless.
So, not bad, but not great. Certainly not a $100 million performance though.

Dice-K left the game after the 7th inning, ending up with 1 earned run, 6 hits, 10 strikeouts, and one walk. A very respectable performance for the MLB ‘rookie.’
He apparently impressed with range of pitches - althoughI have not yet seen the replays. In the 4th inning, he struck out the side with only 14 pitches.
So, a good start for the import. Take it with a grain of salt, however, he was playing against the KC royals.

In his major league debut, japanese ace Daisuke Masuzaka is looking pretty good.
Through 7 innings, dice-k has given up six hits and one run - with the run coming in a 6th inning homer.
dice-k struck out 10 batters through the 7th, with the red sox clinging to a one run lead.
We’ll see how the game progresses, but so far so good for dice-k.
